Welcome from the Head of School

Building a love of learning

Welcome to Christow Community Primary School. We are a village primary school serving primarily the villages of Christow and Bridford, but also attracting children from elsewhere along the Teign Valley.  With our own pre-school on site, the school welcomes children from 2 until 11 years when the majority of our children move on to Teign School.

Christow is a place of high expectations, where everyone connected to the school is positively encouraged to do their best and where achievement is constantly recognised, appreciated and rewarded. Christow is a great place to learn and where equal opportunity and fairness are paramount in our educational beliefs.

We look forward to welcoming applications from those who wish to join, support and enhance our community.

Working for Us

EDUCATION SOUTH WEST

By working together the schools within ESW benefit from:-
  • a support network of like-minded colleagues who believe in taking responsibility for the outcomes of children from age 0 to 19 within the Trust;
  •  opportunities to share good practices and CPD opportunities;
  •  students who will be supported because of the closer working relationships between primary and secondary schools regardless of where a child attends a school;
  •  staff who benefit from the increased opportunities to share best practice at a primary and secondary level and across phases.

 These opportunities also provide an incentive to new staff to join one of the academies within the Trust. There are opportunities for the sharing of staff both within and across phases.

 Pension Scheme

As a contracted member of staff you will be automatically enrolled into either the Teachers’ Pension Scheme or the Local Government Pension Scheme (whichever is appropriate).  Further details can be found on the following websites:

 -       Teachers’ Pensions(TPS)

 -       Peninsula Pensions (LGPS)

 Car Parking

Free car parking is available on the school premises. Spaces are on a ‘first come first served’ basis. There are also secure bike shed where colleagues and students can leave bikes and equipment.

 Catering Facilities - Canteign

Our catering is provided by ESW Catering Service.  Tasty and reasonably priced food is served in our Canteign for breakfast, break and lunch.  The meals are home-cooked, and where possible use produce from the school farm – Abbrook Farm.  In addition, drinks and snacks are available from the Snack Shack and the Sixth Form Common Room, with free tea and coffee for staff throughout the day in the Staffroom.

 Childcare Vouchers

We participate in the childcare voucher scheme, which provides tax benefits to working parents.

 Bike Scheme

Staff can save between 32% and 43% on the cost of a bike and cycling safety accessories under HMRC regulations.

 Eye Tests

Periodic eye examinations for frequent users of Display Screen Equipment are available.  We provide assistance in the purchase of glasses if they are deemed necessary.
